The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology at LeTourneau University invites applicants for an endowed, tenure-track faculty chair position in the Materials Joining area.  The School offers EAC/ABET accredited degrees in engineering with concentrations in mechanical, electrical, materials joining, biomedical, civil and computer engineering and TAC/ABET accredited degrees in engineering technology with concentrations in mechanical, electrical and materials joining. The School of Engineering and Engineering Technology has nearly 600 students and 25 full-time faculty, with the Materials Joining program representing 10% of total enrollment.  The hands-on education and research takes place in a recently renovated $1.2M and 11,000 ft2 lab named after Prof. Kielhorn, in whose name this chair-level position has been established. 

Responsibilities include teaching and research in the Welding/Materials Joining Engineering and Engineering Technology concentrations, advising students and serving on various university committees.  Teaching duties include undergraduate and graduate level teaching in Welding Metallurgy, Joining of Advanced materials, Joining Processes and Engineering Design, and supervising Master’s students and research teams.  Teaching responsibilities may include both on-site and on-line delivery methods. 


LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith who is committed to teaching, research and leadership at a small, dynamic Christian University where the integration of faith and academic excellence is paramount.  A Ph.D. in welding/materials engineering or a closely related field is required. 

 Teaching, research, and industrial experience are desirable in traditional welding processes as wellas in the areas of emerging technologies such as biomaterials and electronic materials joining.  The successful individual must be able to communicate subject material and have the ability to relate to students and faculty, and should be committed to seeking outside research funding.
