Calvin Howe Professor of Computing

 

Introduction

The Department of Computing invites applications from well qualified candidates in the area of cyber security for a fulltime, tenure track faculty position to serve as the Calvin Howe Professor of Computing in the Department of Computing in the School of Business and Technology.  Strongest consideration will be given to candidates with experience in the areas of information and cyber security, cyber warfare, encryption, and computer forensics. The Calvin Howe Professor will help launch a baccalaureate degree in Cyber Security, and work collaboratively with faculty and students to provide vision and leadership for the department to achieve research excellence while continuing LeTourneau University’s tradition of high-quality teaching and community service. In addition to the other documents requested please include a brief research agenda.

 

Responsibilities:

Teaching undergraduate computer science and cyber security courses in a rigorous curriculum, according to policies stated in the University Faculty Handbook.

  • Prepare course materials and assignments.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum review and development.
  • Obtain resources for successful instruction and direction of student projects.
  • Establish and nurture ongoing partnerships with technology related companies.
  • Participate actively in the university and discipline-specific community.
  • Teaching a variety of introductory and advanced computer science courses and directing student projects.
  • Conduct research and facilitate student involvement in research.
  • Participate in helping the computing programs achieve ABET accreditation.

 

Qualifications:

LeTourneau University seeks a person with an enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith, committed to Christian higher education and the integration of Christian faith with life and the discipline of computer science.  The preferred person should have specific experience in computer science areas related to all aspects of security.

  • Earned doctorate in computer science or a closely related field. 
  • Teaching competencies must include the ability to design foundational course material for lecture and activity formats including syllabi and assessments.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally interact with students, colleagues, staff and administrators in the university community.
  • Experience in the computing industry or research applicable to the training and direction of undergraduate computer science student activities.
  • College level teaching experience is preferred in one or more of the following areas; information and cyber security, cyber warfare, encryption, and computer forensics
  • Exemplary record of professional and scholarly achievements, including a history of a funded research program
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and research excellence
  • A record of participation in professional societies.

 

Department: The Department of Computing offers degrees in computer science, gaming, information systems, and cyber security.
