Detailed Job Description

Under general supervision, schedules patient appointments, greets patients, takes phone calls and performs phone registration of new patients into IDX, performs check in/out process and tracks/obtains referrals

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

-Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
-Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
-Possesses interpersonal/human relations skills
-Ability to operate personal computer and perform data entry.
-Ability to respond to questions in a tactful and professional manner, and to work with constant interruptions.
-Ability to maintain records and files and to maintain confidentiality

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented with one (1) year related work experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Schedules appointments, consults, and tests. Performs phone registration including demographic/insurance information. May request pre-certification or authorization from insurance companies.

Answers phone and responds to inquiries; routes calls or messages, and greets and assists patients.

Tracks/obtains referrals, prepares clinics, gathers missing information and updates physicians schedules

Opens mail; maintains clean and neat work areas; performs other duties as assigned.
