The Manager of Application Architecture oversees the selection, deployment, maintenance and upgrades of all infrastructure and middleware softeward that provides the framework for enterprise applications.
Plan and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise application infrastructure software, including but not limited to portal, web application, mobile, and reporting platforms.
Plan and manage the installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise application middleware software that provide services such as single sign-on, authentication, integration, and synchronization.
Provide leadership in the design of the enterprise application architecture and evaluate enterprise applications, tools, and frameworks following the architecture standards.
Oversee the implementation of a mobile platform.
Provide technical expertise, leadership, direction, and assistance to web, mobile, and portal development projects.
Collaborate with colleagues to plan for and manage new product versions and upgrades.
Oversee the resolution of software problems and work with vendors to resolve issues.
Monitor and ensure compliance with security, access, and other IT policies and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of enterprise applications, application development tools, web development frameworks, mobile development frameworks, database management systems, information security, and technology directions.
Respond to technical emergencies outside of normal working hours as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience are required
Five years of experience managing infrastructure and middleware software, web application development, and support of large scale, enterprise wide database applications is required.
Demonstrated development experience with Oracle 11G, Oracle Forms, PLSQL, and SQL is required;
In depth knowledge of, and familiarity with, current enterprise applications including Finance, HR, Admissions, Records and Registration, Financial Aid, Housing, and Advancement are required.
A thorough technical understanding of portal, web and mobile application frameworks including knowledge of development trends and directions is required.
Demonstrated experience leading and managing large IT projects is required.
Demonstrated ability to identify, isolate and resolve complex technical problems is required.
Demonstrated capacity for self-directed learning is required.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues is required.
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills are required.
Ability to work independently on multiple assignments and to work collaboratively within a team is required.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely related field is preferred.
Demonstrated development experience with Cognos, Groovy, Grails, Java, and Red Hat Linux are preferred.
Experience with infrastructure components of the Sungard Banner suite is preferred.
