The Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Metropolitan State University of Denver, is seeking applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics beginning August 2016.
This posting will be used to fill two Tenure Track Faculty Positions.
Teach 12 hours of undergraduate mathematical science courses per semester, including evenings and perhaps on-line courses as well as courses in the freshman success program using multimedia and other technologies as needed; advise students; participate in course and program development and in scholarly and professional development activities; perform university and community service; perform other duties as assigned by the Chair; and work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
Doctorate in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics completed by August 1, 2016.
The successful candidate will have strong oral and written communication skills.
Experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level with evidence of effective teaching.
Knowledge of technology as it applies to mathematics courses.
Evidence of potential for continued scholarly activity, and broad interests in undergraduate education, including mentoring undergraduate research and recruitment and/or retention of students from underrepresented groups.
Special consideration will be given to candidates within the research area of mathematical analysis, pure or applied.
Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners.
