Detailed Job Description

Under general direction, oversees all activities related to the management of the University’s top donors and prospective donors by Development Staff. Conducts regular prospect management meetings, insures that all information related to the University’s top prospects is kept up-to-date in the Banner database, and meets regularly with individual development staff to help them prioritize their prospect pools.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

•Strong written and oral communication skills.
•Analytical ability, including the ability to interpret large amounts of data succinctly.
•Strong interpersonal skills.
•Organizational and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and complete projects within established deadlines.
•Working knowledge of personal computers and computer software applications including (but not limited to) Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and database concepts.
•Working knowledge of Moves Management and Prospect Management best practices and concepts.
•Sensitivity, awareness and a strong sense of discretion when dealing with proprietary or confidential material.
•Familiarity with and demonstrated proficiency in the use of electronic databases such as LEXIS-NEXIS for Development Professionals, Sorkins Online, Guidestar, Foundation Directory Online and WealthEngine.
•Familiarity with basic print research resources such as Marquis Who’s Who and the Standard & Poors Register.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree supplemented with one to three (1-3) years of related experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Sets policies for assignment of major donor prospects to development officers and oversees the assignment process, including assignment and un-assignment of prospects to development officers in the Banner database.

Prepares detailed biographical and financial profiles on the University’s principal gifts prospects.

Ensures that all current information on donors and prospective donors such as contact reports and proposals are entered into the Banner database by development officers and kept up-to-date.

Chairs regular prospect management meetings with development officers and senior development staff

Meets regularly with individual development staff to assist with the prioritization of prospects in individual gift officer portfolios.

Performs other duties as assigned.
