This position delivers project and business planning, providing implementation support for key departmental initiatives assigned by the Associate Vice President, HDRBS.  Directs and manages technology services and planning for HDRBS.  Provides leadership and direction of resource allocation for strategic planning and special projects within the department.  Executes senior leadership strategies to effectively address emergent issues and resolve before they require escalation.  Contributes to, and assists with, the setting of goals, objectives and standards within the department, especially with regard to business and client services.  Tracks progress of HDRBS strategic plans and goals, preparing regular reports for each.  


  • Responsible for scoping and implementing strategic projects, including the development and implementation of strategic plans and long-range strategic initiatives
  • Develops and manages 5 year work plan for HDRBS business units
  • Directs and manages technology support and development as it pertains to business development, support, and strategic planning
  • Lead selected program based special projects that require cross-functional engagement with key staff across the organization
  • Recommend programs to implement, track results and resolve problems as they come up
  • Develop project proposals, charters, progress reports, request for proposal responses, grant applications and other documents and presentations
  • Provide staff support for the convening of a range of meetings on short- or long-term projects which may include research, tracking trends, preparing presentations, development of meeting agendas, drafting briefing papers and/or compiling pertinent background materials for attendees, preparing summaries of discussion, coordinating logistical arrangements, and ensuring appropriate and effective communications with participants
  • Utilize Lean principles and tactics to advance and execute identified initiatives and projects
  • Provides tools for analysis and effectiveness of strategic plans
  • Tracks and benchmarks strategic initiatives and reports results regularly
  • Assist in the development of the department’s annual work plan
  • Assist in developing funding proposals for departmental projects and initiatives
  • Lead selected business-unit special projects, including Lean projects that require cross-functional engagement with key staff across the department, including external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provide staff support to the Association VP, HDRBS for a range of meetings on short or long term projects.  This may include research, tracking trends, preparing presentations, development of meeting agendas, drafting briefing papers and/or compiling pertinent background materials for attendees; preparing summaries of discussion; coordinating logistical arrangements; and supporting Lean Kaizen events.
  • Liaison with other campus partners as assigned on behalf of HDRBS
  • Direct and support funding efforts such as sponsorships, grants, and fund-raising.
  • Assist in the development of the department’s annual and five-year budgets as it relates to strategic plans for each business unit.
  • Prepares monthly departmental Lean Report.
  • Works closely with other senior leaders within HDRBS to formulate long range labor planning, strategic marketing initiatives, evaluation of technology and software innovation, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent, preferably in business, communication or writing
  • 10 years of related leadership experience in a large organization 
  • Experience in project management with proven results in instituting divisional change
  • Experience with technology support and development, i.e. web site development, software selection and implementation, use of technology for operational improvements and efficiencies
  • Comprehensive knowledge in job related functional area
  • Proven ability to identify key issues and carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution
  • Experience in Lean or Six Sigma

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or other related Master’s degree
