The Associate Dean for the School of Education is a direct report to the Dean of the School of Education. This is a supervisory position with demonstrated professional experience with PK-12 schools. The associate dean is responsible for unit assessment and accreditation, assists the dean in preparing reporting documents for state, local, national requirements. The incumbent must have successful experience as a program chair or department head and experience with NCATE/CAEP Accreditation.
Evidence of successful academic planning and implementation of undergraduate and graduate programs, online courses and doctoral programs.
Demonstrated success in budget and personnel management and a distinguished record of teaching and scholarship and leadership.
Demonstrated success in supervision of off-campus sites, faculty and staff.
Demonstrated ability with strategic planning.
Appreciation and cultivation of diversity in urban school setting.
Participates in and supports the shared governance of the college by serving on councils and committees identified in the college governance document; and represents the college on university councils and committees related to academic programs – undergraduate, graduate, and international.
Assist the dean in handling student issues. Assist in the design and development of curriculum and administrative policies, and procedures.

Doctoral degree in a content area offered within the School of Education or related field.
Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds.
Interest in active and collaborative learning and enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Blackboard, and the instructional use of technology to teach traditional, hybrid or on-line courses, as needed.
Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.
Expertise that complements and expands that of the academic unit.
