The Department of Modern Languages invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in French to begin August 2013.
Teach undergraduate courses in French, day, evening, and weekend, as needed; ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a culturally-diverse urban population; and advise students in the major/minor. Engage in scholarly activity; assist with assessment and development of programs and curriculum congruent with the mission of the University. Engage in service activities at the departmental, school, university, and community levels.
Ph.D. in French.
Native or near-native fluency in French and English; evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching, including general education courses; experience with proficiency-based language instruction; interest and capability in new and emerging learning and instructional technologies and their integration in the teaching environment and service learning; previous experience in teaching phonetics is a plus. Also, the ability to teach about ethnic minorities.
