Description of Positions: Variable-time, term, non-tenure-track Instructor/Lecturer positions in the Department of Workforce Education and Development with specialization in education, training, and development. Positions are contingent on availability of funding.
The Department of Workforce Education and Development has delivered an on-site Baccalaureate Degree program with a major in Workforce Education and Development since 1973. The program is currently offered on 11 military bases and one non-military site in eight states as follows: NBK Bangor, WA; JB Charleston AFB, SC; NAS Oceana, VA; Great Lakes NTC, IL; Groton NSB, CT; Jacksonville NAS, FL; JB McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ; Mayport NS, FL; NAS Pensacola, FL; Naval Base San Diego; Scott AFB, IL; and Moreno Valley, CA. On all matters pertaining to the operation of the program, Instructors/Lecturers report to the Department of Workforce Education and Development and to the College of Education and Human Services.
Responsibilities: Instructors/Lecturers teaching in the Baccalaureate Degree program are responsible for teaching regular courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson. These courses are WED 460 — Occupational Analysis and Curriculum Development, WED 462 — Instructional Methods and Materials; WED 463 —Assessment of Learner Performance; WED 466 Foundations of Workforce Education; WED 469 — Training Systems Management and WED 486 —Adult Learning. Course descriptions are available at: http://ehs.siu.edu/wed/department/courses/index.php. Courses meet for four weekends during a regular academic trimester. THE INTENT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS TO IDENTIFY A POOL OF FACULTY WHO LIVE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO ONE OF THE 12 DELIVERY SITES LISTED ABOVE AND ARE QUALIFIED TO DELIVER WED COURSES AS LISTED.
Appointment and Salary: Qualifications of selected individual will determine faculty rank and salary. These are term, non-tenure-track positions subject to reappointment each semester. After initial screening of applications, if selected and approved as a finalist, candidates will be expected to interview with an off-campus faculty member at the nearest location where the program is offered. The maximum allowed travel reimbursement is $500 per course.
