Description of Positions: The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking Instructors/Lecturers for teacher leadership, general teacher education, and elementary education courses offered at the Rend Lake College Marketplace (RLCM) in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and the University Center of Lake County (UCLC) in Grayslake, IL. These are non-tenure track term appointments with opportunities for consecutive or future term employment, dependent on applicant qualifications and program needs.

Responsibilities of Positions:

  1. Deliver general teacher education and elementary education undergraduate course content as needed at UCLC. (master's degree or doctorate required)
  2. Deliver general teacher education and elementary education undergraduate courses as needed at RLCM. (master's degree or doctorate required)
  3. Deliver teacher leadership graduate level courses as needed at RLCM. (doctorate required).

Qualifications/Requirements: The rank of Instructor requires an earned master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field; the rank of Lecturer requires an earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field. Applicants must have:

  1. A strong background in curriculum and instruction design and delivery.
  2. Knowledge of specific content to be taught in one or more of the courses available (see below).
  3. Teaching experience at the k-12 school level.
