Detailed Job Description
The School of Accountancy of Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking one or more individuals to teach courses within its online accounting undergraduate degree completion program within the following topics:
- Advanced Accounting - Undergraduate level, 3-credit hour course. Accounting principles and procedures relating to specialized topics, including partnership equity, installment and consignment sales, fiduciaries, international operations, branches, and business combinations and consolidations.
- Internal Auditing - Undergraduate level, 3-credit hour course. This course covers internal audit from a broad perspective to include information technology, business processes, and accounting systems. Topics include internal auditing standards, risk assessment, governance, ethics, audit technique, and emerging issues. It covers the design of business processes and the implementation of key control concepts and will use a case study approach that addresses tactical, strategic, systems, and operational areas.
Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Accounting or a terminal degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g., JD or LLM) at the effective date of employment of 8/16/2015. Applicants must also have a minimum of three years of teaching experience at an AACSB-accredited institution at the effective date of employment. Preference will be given to individuals with experience teaching in an online environment. Individuals must provide evidence of high quality teaching. Professional business experience and/or a CPA is preferred. Employment is for the Fall 2015 semester with possible employment for ensuing semesters. These are term appointments that do not lead to tenure. No service activity is expected. These positions are contingent upon upon final budgetary approval.
Successful candidates will be required to travel to Carbondale, Illinois during the summer of 2015 and stay for an approximate three-week period, at their own expense, to record lectures for the upcoming Fall 2015 semester. All course development must be completed by July 31, 2015. Salary:
