The College of Applied Sciences and Arts (ASA) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor position (variable time) within ASA's School of Allied Health's baccalaureate program in Health Care Management beginning August 16, 2015, or until an acceptable amount of applicants are found. The intent of this announcement is to identify a pool of faculty who live in close proximity to the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus or to one of the six delivery sites listed and meet the qualifications listed to teach Health Care Management courses.
Locations: Great Lakes Naval Station — Great Lakes, IL; Jacksonville Naval Air Station — Jacksonville, FL; Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune — Camp Lejeune, NC; Pensacola Naval Air Station — Pensacola, FL; Walter Reed National Military Medical Center — Bethesda, MD.
Required Qualifications: At time of application a Master's degree in Health Services Administration (MHSA) or Master's in Health Administration (MHA) and/or Business Administration (MBA) or Public Health (MPH) with a specialization in Health Care Management/Administration and/or Business Administration (MBA) and/or Public Administration (MPA) and/or Public Health (MPH)ifaccompanied by two years' experience as a manager or supervisor in a U.S. healthcare organization resulting in direct industry specific knowledge and understanding of the Affordable Care Act as well as Meaningful Use initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching health care management courses at the undergraduate level. Topics include but not limited to statistics, operations management in healthcare, healthcare economics, healthcare finance, health information systems, strategic planning in healthcare, and coding/compliance as they specifically relate to the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities: Provide direct classroom instruction. Teaching in multiple delivery formats including face-to-face on-campus lecture (day and evening), online (traditional and accelerated), and/or off-campus/remote site (accelerated weekends) is expected. Assist with student recruitment and retention activities. Participate and complete course assessment activities for the Health Care Management program. Some travel may be expected based on workload assignment. Engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Allied Health.
