Saint Louis University School of Medicine, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to education, research, service and healthcare invites nominations and applications for Professor and Chair, to lead the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the College for Public Health and Social Justice.

The College for Public Health and Social Justice is the newest College at the University. In addition to environmental and occupational health, the College includes departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Behavioral Health and Health Management & Policy as well as the School of Social Work that includes Criminology and Criminal Justice programs. The College for Public Health and Social Justice is the only accredited school or college of public health in a Catholic, Jesuit University in the United States and, consistent with the University’s values, is committed to social justice, excellence in education, community engagement, and research that leads to improved health and well-being. The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health offers six degrees and includes the Institute for Biosecurity and the Center for Environmental Education and Training, an authorized OSHA Training Institute Education Center.

The College recognizes that the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health is particularly important given today’s unprecedented environmental challenges and their impact on public health. Therefore we are seeking a dynamic change agent who can lead the department in addressing these challenges, both locally and globally. The successful candidate must be able to recruit, mentor, and retain excellent faculty and students, and develop innovative educational programs.

The ideal applicant will have a doctoral degree (PhD, M.D., Dr.P .H., SeD, DVM) in Environmental and Occupational Health or a related field in public health, significant experience in environmental and occupational health, demonstrated excellence in research, a track record of external funding, experience mentoring researchers and PhD students, and teaching excellence. Applicants should furthermore have an academic standing and record consistent with appointment as a tenured full professor.

Responsibilities include administration and supervision of the EOH faculty, conducting independent research, teaching {graduate and/or undergraduate), student recruitment, and providing professional and community service. There are excellent opportunities for collaboration in a productive college portfolio across all areas of public health, as well as across the university.
