Detailed Job Description

Responsible for teaching both undergraduate and graduate value investing finance courses. Will teach 12 credit hours per semester. Service as befitting an individual at the level of instructor.

The Department of Economics, Finance and Legal Studies at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of instructor, with the designation Fitzpatrick Endowed Professorship in Value Investing, beginning August 16, 2016.

The holder of the Fitzpatrick Professorship is expected to become a leader in promoting the value investing curriculum and related programs in the College. The successful candidate should be outstanding in teaching; have a strong background in value investing; recruit students to the undergraduate and graduate value investing programs; work with and advise the Culverhouse Investment Management Group, a student-run value investing club; help manage the new, state-of-the-art Vulcan Value Partners Research Library and Trading Room; aid in the development of appropriate internships; and assist in student placement. The candidate should also demonstrate evidence of academic or applied scholarship, including the ability to publish in recognized academic or practitioner journals, a willingness to organize or participate in investment-related conferences and symposia, or in advising investment-related firms and organizations. An advanced degree in business, finance, or a closely related field is required. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in an area closely related to investment management and would have at least five years of professional investment management experience with a strong focus on value investing, and would hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential. The position is expected to begin August 16, 2016. Salary is competitive.

This is a non-tenure earning position renewable for three-year periods at the discretion of the University with no expectation of continued employment beyond any three-year contract period.
