The University of Alabama is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor within its CAATE-(Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) Professional AT (Athletic Training) Program. This is a tenure-earning, nine-month position within the Department of Health Science, College of Human Environmental Sciences. The department offers a BSAT in Athletic Training, a BS in Public Health, an MA in Health Studies and a PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion. The Athletic Training Program will have its on-site visit for continuing accreditation in 2017-2018 and will transition to the graduate level shortly thereafter.
The successful candidate will assume responsibilities that will include maintaining a productive research agenda; teaching undergraduate and graduate Athletic Training courses; supervising undergraduate and graduate student research; assisting in program-related activities; and providing service to the program, department, college, university and profession.
Qualified candidates for this position are expected to have a completed doctorate in Exercise Science, Health Education/Health Promotion or a closely related discipline; current Board of Certification in Athletic Training; a minimum of three years of active clinical experience as an Athletic Trainer; demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain a focused research agenda that will result in peer-reviewed publications and external funding; familiarity with athletic training accreditation standards; and a record of excellence in teaching.
