Position: Department Head, Associate Professor or Professor of Special Education (Tenure Track)

Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in special education
• Demonstrated evidence of ability to pursue a research agenda
• Expertise in an area of preparation within the department (i.e., Early Intervention; Collaborative Teaching; Inclusion Services; Gifted Education)
• Demonstrated public school experience instructing exceptional learners (minimum of three years’ experience teaching in grades PreK-12)
• Awareness and command of budgeting resources to advance instruction and research
• Comprehensive understanding of accreditation standards and models to include awareness of edTPA for teacher candidate assessment
• Understanding of professional knowledge and skills with capacity to effectively integrate standards into practice
• Capacity to advocate for faculty and students in local schools, state agencies, with University administration
• Experience with personnel evaluation and projection of measures to maximize instruction and research capacity
• Focus on academic interventions in exceptional education
• Knowledge of curriculum requirements and trends in the discipline
• Ability to teach, coordinate and guide advisement in undergraduate and graduate courses in special educator preparation
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
• A commitment to diversity and excellence in higher education teacher preparation programs

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of instructional and assistive technology applications and/or distance delivery
• History of external funding with promise for continued research sponsorship
