The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of the Incarnate Word invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry at the Assistant Professor level.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge regarding pedagogy and teaching techniques for first-time college students and students from underserved populations. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry or Chemistry.
Required Work Experience
Previous undergraduate teaching experience.
Preferred candidates will demonstrate the ability and the intent to develop a research program for undergraduates. Preferred qualifications will include experience with the incorporation of appropriate and relevant technologies in the student learning experience.
Teaching responsibilities include biochemistry lecture and laboratory courses. The successful applicant will also be required to teach general chemistry and at least one upper level elective course in the applicant’s area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include advising students for degree completion and career development, plus providing individual support during office hours. Faculty members are expected to contribute to department planning and growth. Maintaining an ongoing and active research agenda is required for obtaining tenure status with the university. Faculty members are also expected to participate in community service activities.
