The Department of Social Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure track faculty position to teach psychology courses online.

This position will be based at the University Campus in Saint Leo, Florida with requirements to teach primarily online courses and participate in university, school, and/or departmental meetings at the University Campus.

This is a nine (9) month, full-time faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate rank.

This position begins January 2016 and is pending final budgetary approval for the 2015-2016 academic year.

To apply, submit letter of introduction documenting successful online teaching experience; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation (all should be professional references and at least one from a recent superior); values statement (500 words or less) and teaching philosophy (500 words or less), which highlights how your online teaching and administrative philosophy and practices fit the Mission and Values of Saint Leo University; official transcripts (including WES evaluation if from an international university); and student evaluations from the last year

An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.

Basic Function:

The faculty member will be required to:

  • Teach online classes while housed at University Campus near Tampa, FL.
    *Shepherd online psychology students through the requirements of the psychology major
  • Assess, assist, and guide online adjunct psychology faculty under the direction of the department chair;
  • Engage in curriculum development;
    *Serve on committees
  • Demonstrate professional development (e.g., paper presentations at conferences)
    *Keep regular office hours at University Campus (near Tampa, FL))
    *Attend meetings and functions at University campus (near Tampa, FL)
  • Undertake community service in keeping with the school’s Benedictine values;
  • Be able to teach traditional and non-traditional age online students

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

The applicant will have extensive experience with online teaching, online course development, online teaching pedagogy, and with non-traditional students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in psychology and demonstrated online teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience with assessment and/or evaluation of online teachers and/or courses.
