The Department of Education and Social Services is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure track, faculty position to teach Graduate Social Work courses.


This is a nine (9) month, full-time faculty appointment at the Instructor/Assistant/Associate rank.


This position will be based at the University Campus in Saint Leo, Florida with requirements to teach primarily online courses and participate in university, school, and/or departmental meetings at the University Campus.

To apply, submit letter of introduction documenting successful teaching experience; curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation (all should be professional references and at least one from a recent superior); values statement (500 words or less) and teaching philosophy (500 words or less), which highlights how your teaching and administrative philosophy and practices fit the Mission and Values of Saint Leo University; official transcripts (including WES evaluation if from an international university); and student evaluations from the last year (at least six classes, an even mix of graduate and undergraduate).


An exceptional candidate possessing a doctorate degree with experience may be considered at the Associate level.

Basic Function:

The faculty member must have obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Accreditation (CSWE) accredited program; possess a doctorate in social work or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution; demonstrated teaching experience in using technologies as instructional methods in the classroom, a commitment to the use of technology in distance learning; and three years post-masters professional experience in the field.

The faculty member must also have the ability to teach in the advanced clinical practice concentration with a focus on individuals, couples, families and groups. The faculty member must have experience in direct clinical practice with veterans, military members and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years college/university level teaching in an accredited CSWE MSW/BSW program(s). The ability to teach across the curriculum. Experience in online course design and development.
