The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama seeks applicants for tenured position. The position will be filled at the rank of assistant/associate professor. Successful candidate is expected to excel in research funding, teaching, and service in a civil engineering field.

The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama invites applications for an open-rank, tenured/tenure-track faculty position in environmental and water resources engineering. Areas of particular interest include: computational hydrology, hydroinformatics, decision support, large-scale hydrology, coupled land-surface and coastal hydrology, and integrated water resources science and policy. Consideration will also be given to outstanding candidates in the areas of: water quality, water supply and reuse, and wastewater. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with nationally recognized centers of excellence located on the University of Alabama campus, including the University’s Environmental Institute (EI) and the University’s Water Policy and Law Institute (WPLI). The EI and the WPLI are actively engaged with the National Water Center, which is located on the University of Alabama campus.
The department offers ABET/EAC-accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering and construction engineering, and was approved to offer Bachelor of Science degrees in environmental engineering and architectural engineering beginning in the fall of 2014. With an enrollment of over 900 graduate and undergraduate students, the department offers six minors in the areas of architectural, civil, construction, environmental and water resources, transportation, and structural engineering. At the graduate level, the department offers the Master of Science in civil engineering, Master of Science in environmental engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering. The department also supports two dual-degree graduate programs, a joint MSCE/MBA and a joint MSCE/JD.
The department is benefiting from the College and University’s rapid expansion in facilities including ongoing construction of a four-building, $300 million Engineering and Science Complex completed in 2014. These buildings provide over 900,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research and instructional space, the majority of which is devoted to the College of Engineering. In addition to the Environment Institute, successful candidates will work within an integrated research community that includes a variety of on-campus research centers such as the University Transportation Center for Alabama (UTCA), and new Center for Sustainable Infrastructure (CSI).
Applicants must have a doctorate in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field. Appointments will be at the assistant/associate professor level, depending on qualifications.
