Essential Job Functions

1. Provides student services as needed such as advising, assistance with forms, and special approvals or certifications.
2. Approves and certifies eligibility for financial aid or veterans' benefits.
3. Retrieves and modifies electronic data files using a variety of computer software.
4. Submits federal and state reports using the appropriate electronic formats.
5. Retrieves and studies web-available information to keep abreast of federal and state regulations.
6. Decides appropriate course of action to solve individual student problems.
7. Communicates with students and parents by telephone, e-mail, in-person, and in writing.
8. Works independently with little direct supervision.


1. Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
2. Previous experience in college financial aid office.
3. Progressively responsible work which demonstrates ability to work independently on complex projects.
4. Knowledge of current regulations in financial aid and veteran's programs.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
6. Decision making skills about student eligibility.
7. Ability to make decisions about appropriate course of action to resolve problems.
8. Advanced computer skills in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software.
9. Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accomodation.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

1. Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations.

$36,010 - $39,322 per year
