St. Edward's University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in analytical chemistry beginning August 2016.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and engaging in research with undergraduates at all levels of the curriculum. Specific course assignments will include analytical, environmental, and chemical instrumentation lectures and laboratories. Additional expectations include establishing and maintaining an active research program in an undergraduate teaching environment, participating in course, curriculum and program development, as well as engaging in other school, university, and community service activities.
A Ph.D. in Chemistry is required. Postdoctoral and/or undergraduate teaching experience is preferred. The Department is committed to broadening the participation of under-represented groups in STEM fields. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching, research, and service will contribute to the department's commitment to undergraduate research, student learning, diversity, and inclusive pedagogy. Experience or interest in pedagogical innovation and implementing active learning in their courses is desired. Candidates with research experience that would enhance our chemistry degree offerings in environmental chemistry or biochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. We seek candidates interested in promoting meaningful interactions between students and faculty that help our majors develop both knowledge and confidence in the professional practice of science regardless of their background or outgoing career trajectory. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check is required.
