Job ID:  1887

Economics:  Lecturer (micro and/or micro) to teach undergraduate economics; to advise students; and to provide service to students and the institution. The economics department at Miami University is housed in the Farmer School of Business, but has majors in both the Farmer School of Business and the College of Arts and Science.  

Duties

To teach undergraduate economics; to advise students; and to provide service to students and the institution; advising all first-year Arts and Sciences Economics majors.  Additional duties may include advising upper-class Arts and Science majors and other students interested in Economics; serving as a liaison between the Economics Department and the College of Arts and Sciences.  

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Economics (completed by December 31, 2016 for appointment to a second year).

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Upload evidence of teaching performance as "Teaching Philosophy;" evidence of advising excellence and/or a statement of advising philosophy/interest and upload it to "Other."  Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the January 2016 ASSA meetings in San Francisco.  Letters of recommendation will be requested by the department.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong candidate will have a commitment to excellence in teaching high quality courses in Principles of Economics (Macro and/or Micro) and upper-level courses; commitment to excellence in teaching large sections of principles; commitment to pedagogic innovation; and demonstrated enthusiasm for undertaking student-centered service responsibilities such as academic and extracurricular advising; student advising experience.
