The Business Data Analyst reports directly to Student Affairs and provides complex data analysis activities to Academic Affairs to be used to make campus-wide decisions. The position is responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing technology and processes for automating the movement of data and information across systems, including the university’s PeopleSoft system to be used for compiling and reporting data and analysis related to enrollment, admissions, recruitment, retention, scholarship, financial aid, and academic enrollment information.
This position will perform highly technical activities related to interpreting results using statistical analysis and/or data mining to create, monitor, analyze and report appropriate metrics to inform and guide campus wide operational decisions related to the effectiveness of policies and impact of marketing, recruitment and retention initiatives.
Keep abreast of federal and state policies and trends related to recruitment, admission, retention, financial aid and enrollment of various student constituent groups. Coordinate with academic departments, academic advising, and Student Success Council to develop Vancouver specific Dashboard analytic reports, and ensure accuracy of data.
This is a temporary position expected to end 8/31/2017. Renewal is dependent on satisfactory performance, the need for extension to complete the project, and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Proficient in the implementation and use of computerized records and strong technology skills.
Experience as a user of enterprise management systems (PeopleSoft), Data Visualization tools (Tableau), CRM tools (Prospect) and/or SQL is preferred.
Experience using business intelligence tools (OBIEE), Google analytics and statistical analysis software for the management and analysis of admissions, enrollment and financial aid data.
Experience working with multiple and diverse database sources by designing, refining, and running complex data queries and producing related reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of databases and end user reporting tools such as Microsoft Access, OBIEE, or Business Objects.
