Under general supervision, is responsible for enforcing all Spirit Squad policies and procedures and team rules, providing structure and preparation for all practices and games and helping coordinate appearances and fundraisers.
Knowledge of cheerleading concepts/strategies and NCAA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of physical conditioning techniques and weight training.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to access athletic talent.
Ability to serve as a positive role model.
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two years of college cheer leading experience as a participant or coach. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Highly motivated, creative, self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. A strong leader and mentor, especially to college students. Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required.
Oversee operations of the program, which includes managing the budget, ordering new equipment, and uniforms. Manage scheduling for all men’s and women’s home basketball games, select other competitions, practices, and community appearances.
Uphold all safety guidelines as set forth by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches & Administrators (AACCA) and the Atlantic 10 conference in all practices, games, and performances. Compliance with the rules and regulations of Saint Louis University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 conference
Provide instruction to the team by developing and clearly communicating program policies and prioritizing student’s safety.
Must be present at all home men’s and women’s basketball games and available to travel either the Atlantic 10 conference men’s or women’s basketball championships.
Develop a recruiting plan prior to the annual tryouts and co-lead the marketing, operations, and selection process. Organize mid-season and end-of-season reviews with members of the respective teams.
Lead fundraising efforts, as well as collaborate with the SLU marketing staff on in-game performances.
