Teaches courses within the core biology curriculum and discipline specific courses in microbiology. Recognizes excellent student education as first priority. Experience with and commitment to internet and/or hybrid instruction methods preferred. Develops and supervises a research program that promotes undergraduate student participation and results in peer-reviewed publication. Collaboratively and professionally, promotes the department, college, and collective and individual interests of the staff and students. Supports ways to fulfill the guiding concepts of the university.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in microbiology or a related academic field of study, including at least one year of teaching experience. Must have experience assessing student learning capabilities and learning styles and understand how to develop curriculum of assigned courses including online and hybrid instruction. Preferred candidate will develop a Microbiology advising track.
Knowledge of theory and practice of biology, especially Microbiology.
Skills in the instruction of lectures, laboratory courses, and new and innovative modes of delivery (i.e. internet or hybrid courses)
Ability to develop curriculum and teach and design courses.
Ability to engage and inspire students.
Ability to develop and maintain effective educational partnerships at the campus, local, state, and national levels.
Ability to communicate in written and verbal form with various students, faculty, and others.
Ability to supervise students and support staff.
