The University of San Diego, an independent Roman Catholic University, invites applications for the Fletcher Jones Endowed Chair in applied mathematics to begin in the fall of 2016. This is a tenure-track position and the successful candidate will become the first holder of the endowed chair position and will join a small pool of faculty who will rotate through the Endowed Chair position in three-year terms.
In addition to standard faculty responsibilities of teaching, research, and service, the responsibilities of the holder of the endowed chair position will include developing and strengthening the applied mathematics program and curriculum, recruiting and mentoring students, fostering and facilitating undergraduate research, and supervising senior projects in applied mathematics based on contacts with corporate partners and/or on personal expertise.
