The candidate will be a vital member of the Exercise Science (ES) faculty and be required to follow all tenure-track faculty responsibilities described in the MSU Denver Handbook for Professional Personnel.


Specific responsibilities include the following activities:
1. Teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate coursework
2. Advise students
3. Provide service to the department, college, university and community
4. Participate in scholarly activities, appropriate to the discipline, as described in the Faculty Departmental Guidelines
5. Other Duties as Assigned:
Faculty engaged in other duties, including faculty on reassigned time to serve in roles such as Department Chairs or Directors, will be reviewed on those activities.

Teaching responsibilities may include the following courses: Exercise Physiology, Advanced Fitness Assessment and Exercise Prescription, Community Fitness Programs, Physical Fitness Techniques and Programs, Personal Training Concepts, Fitness Programs for Special Populations, as well as courses in biomechanics and strength and conditioning techniques offered by the Department of Human Performance and Sport. In addition to teaching, the position will require a minimum of five office hours per week to include advising and consultation with students. Candidates will be expected to teach in the classroom as well as in the laboratory setting, and must be able to use and apply current technologies in the classroom.

Required Qualifications

ABD (by May 2016) in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or a related discipline; National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS) and American College of Sports Medicine Certifications (EP-C or higher); accreditation experience. Those with 1) demonstrated excellence in undergraduate college teaching in the classes listed under “responsibilities"; and 2) recent practical experience in the area of strength and conditioning will be given strong preference.
