Description of Duties:
Bentley University is hiring an Assistant Director to work alongside the Director of the Center for International Students and Scholars handling a wide variety of duties including advising/assisting international students on immigration, employment, and finances.
The incumbent will ensure the international students remain in legal immigration status and the school is in compliance with all state and federal laws. This role also serves as the department's liaison, advisor and committee member to international student clubs and organizations and assists with the various international programs while providing leadership for programmatic function of the office.
Additional Description of Duties: The Assistant Director will monitor development in immigration policies, procedures and regulations on a daily basis and as it relates to SEVIS/SEVP to ensure that international student, scholars and their dependent and the University understands and comply with current federal and state regulations. Advise and assist F1, J-1 students and scholars as well as their dependents on a variety of employment academic and personal concerns, referring them to appropriate departments/staff members as necessary.
Masters degree in International Education, Student Affairs/Higher Education Administration or related fields (or comparable experience); an understanding of student development theory; or comparable experience and knowledge of the complex and ever-changing rules, regulations and procedures of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). 3-5 years' experience as an international advisor.
Software Knowledge: Familiarity with systems such as Banner and fsaAtlas is a plus.
