Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit and international institution dedicated to education, research, service, and healthcare, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biostatistics (100% in 9 months) for its expanding programs in the Department of Biostatistics. The Department offers Bachelor of Science in Biostatistics as well as master and PhD degrees in public health studies with a concentration in biostatistics. The faculty’s research interests include Bayesian methods; spatial statistics; causal inference; latent structure analysis; functional data analysis; quantile regression; categorical data analysis; and longitudinal data analysis. The Saint Louis University College for Public Health & Social Justice (CPHSJ) is the only accredited school of public health in a Jesuit, Catholic university in the U.S., and is committed to social justice, excellence in education, community engagement, and research that leads to improved health.
The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, applied statistics, or related field, with an interest in interdisciplinary research, evidence of high quality research, potential of securing external research funding, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring. Primary responsibilities include conducting independent and collaborative research in biostatistics and public health, continually seeking external funding, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and providing professional and community services. CPHSJ is nationally recognized for its community-based research and its commitment to excellence in teaching and social justice. Successful candidates will find opportunities for collaboration in a productive college portfolio, including health policy, community-based prevention, global health, chronic diseases, mental health, and maternal and child health. Secondary appointments with the School of Medicine and other appropriate colleges may also be available for eligible candidates. A preferred starting date is August 15, 2016.
