Under general direction, the Accountant 1 supports the AVP for Finance/GRAMA; establishes and reconciles budgets; ensures and applies accounting standards, state laws, regulations and University policies and procedures to specific assignments; and, manages business and financial affairs.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting or a related field plus one year of experience related to the summary of duties or any combination of education and experience totaling five years.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures, internal auditing, internal controls, federal tax regulations and fund accounting.
Knowledge of theories and techniques involved in analysis of financial data.
Knowledge of PC computer systems and software, including spreadsheets, word processing, graphics presentation, accounting software and Windows operating systems.
Skills in effective problem solving.
Skills in decision-making.
Skills in human relations.
Ability to review, analyze, and prepare accurate financial reports.
Ability to communicate, written and verbally.
