Under general direction, responsible for the leadership and day-to-day operations of the Billiken Teacher Corps program. The position will serve as an academic and spiritual advisor to students, and serve as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders to advance the mission of the Billiken Teacher Corps program.
Knowledge of and experience with K-12 Catholic education.
Ability to provide formation and support for intentional faith communities. Knowledge of best practices in alternative teacher education programs. Written and verbal communication skills. Interpersonal/analytical and time management skills. Strong ability in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to contract, build relationships and oversee programs with internal and external partners in the community. Ability to facilitate collaborative group processes. Ability to work flexible schedule that includes travel, and evening and weekend hours. Ability to represent the university well to a variety of internal and stakeholder groups. Ability to demonstrate self-direction and motivation. Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Masters degree in education or equivalent.
Experience in Catholic education preferred.
Preferred knowledge/experience with formation and support of intentional faith communities
Serves as the advisor for all post baccalaureate students working toward teacher certification in the school of education; responsible for providing educational guidance and assistance for students by planning schedules, recommending courses and determining appropriate education solutions for students.
Oversees the placement and recruitment process for the Billiken Teacher Corps; coordinates with SLU faculty, diocesan personnel, principals, and mentor teachers regarding the academic program for Billiken Teacher Corps and their teaching responsibilities in schools.
Responsible for the spiritual development of Billiken Teacher Corps within the scope of the Billiken Teacher Corps program by facilitating two annual retreats. Provides support to their spiritual formation throughout the year and serves as a spiritual mentor for each teacher and attending the individual needs of the Billiken Teacher Corps teacher.
