The Assistant Controller reports directly to the Controller and will be responsible for management of the day-to-day activities within the college Business Office.
Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include managing payable, accounts receivable, restricted funds, general ledger, fixed assets, and payroll. Will also be responsible for all reconciliations, some monthly and year-end reporting, along with managing established budget control methods, recommending procedures for improved service, and assisting with the annual audit process. This position will supervise various professional and support staff and will provide advice and technical assistance with cost analysis, fiscal allocation, and budget preparation. Other related duties as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible work in accounting and/or finance is required. Two (2) years experience supervising others in an office setting is required. The successful individual must have a thorough understanding of computer systems, accounting software, and be able to perform difficult accounting related work; have excellent customer service skills; have the ability to resolve difficult situations both with colleagues and outside customers; possess a high energy level, have a strong commitment to the community college, and philosophy of stewardship. The candidate should value diversity and have a multi-cultural perspective with adult/minority students, colleagues and staff, as well as be an excellent communicator.
