The University of Indianapolis is seeking nominations and applications for an energetic, experienced professional interested in the position of Vice President for University Advancement.

The University of Indianapolis is a private, residential, comprehensive university of some 5,400 students and was founded in 1902 by what is now the United Methodist Church. Ranked in the top tier of universities in its class by U.S. News and World Report, the University offers a comprehensive undergraduate liberal arts education as well as advanced degrees in the arts and sciences, education, and health care. The vice president reports directly to the president and is a member of the President’s Cabinet. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing a comprehensive institutional advancement program. Because the University is funded through private donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations, as well as gifts-in-kind, this position will be responsible and accountable for establishing a sustainable and scalable development program.

The candidate should have a proven track record of searching for and securing major gifts. The vice president will manage and oversee day-to-day operations of the fund-raising, prospect research, alumni and parent relations, and special events functions. At a minimum, the successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and seven years of progressively responsible fund-raising experience. This candidate must be capable of developing and implementing clear goals and be a strategic leader who is capable of working independently as well as on a team. Experience working in higher education and strong supervisory skills preferred.
