Teach both undergraduate and graduate courses and conduct an ongoing program of research and publication in political communication. The position also includes advising and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students.
THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA invites applications for a full-time, tenure-earning, assistant professor in political communication, to begin 16 August 2016. Applicants must have a completed Ph.D., prior to the start date. Those with an already-established program of scholarship are preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The desired candidate’s research and teaching interests will be primarily focused in political communication from a qualitative and/or quantitative perspective. Additional expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferred: electoral/campaign politics, gender and political communication, race and political communication, audience studies, public engagement, social justice and politics, and polling and demographics. As a member of the department, the successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses (masters and doctoral) that match the research and teaching interests of the candidate. The candidate will also advise and mentor students at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels; serve on department, college, and university committees; and help contribute to a collegial, inclusive, and dynamic scholarly community.
