Chair, Department of Mathematics; Associate/Full Professor of Mathematics

With record enrollments and a rising average SAT score for incoming students, LeTourneau University has entered into an exciting phase. Strong leadership in Engineering and Computer Science has vaulted those programs to new heights. Now we are looking for the leader who can build upon the strong foundation created by the faulty of the Department of Mathematics and lead this program into the future.
The Department of Mathematics features five full time faculty members and offers a BS in Mathematics that is focused on three different concentrations: Applied Statistics, Financial Mathematics, and Biomathematics.
The ideal candidate would provide leadership as the Chair of the Department of Mathematics, while also teaching in the area of Statistics. Yet individuals who fall beyond those parameters should not be discouraged from applying. The ideal candidate will:
• Provide visionary leadership for the Department of Mathematics.
• Teach freshman to senior level mathematics courses, preferably in the area of statistics.
• Use and maintain currency with appropriate instructional technology.
• Participate actively in the University learning community by serving on department, school, and/or university committees and special service assignments
• Participate in student advising, success and retention programs.
• Maintain a commitment to academic scholarship in the field of expertise.
• Strong administrative skills, leadership, and experience.
• A doctorate in a mathematical field, preferably statistics, from a regionally accredited university. While the earned doctorate is preferred, a master’s is required.
• Experience using statistics in industry or business is preferred.
• A proven ability to relate to students and to communicate subject material using current technologies.
• A strong interest and commitment to teaching and advising at the undergraduate level.
• An enthusiastic Christian faith with a commitment to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith with learning.

DATE POSITION IS AVAILABLE: August 1, 2013
This is a nine month full-time, tenure-track faculty position which combines chairing the
Department of Mathematics with a four course teaching load per semester, with the possibility of
summer school teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays,
but may include some evening classes, independent studies, and online classes. Office hours
are primarily weekdays, but responsibilities require additional hours and flexibility that can
occasionally include evenings and weekends.
