Under close supervision, is responsible to sort, deliver, and pickup United States Postal Service (USPS) mail and University interoffice mail; picks up outgoing mail from all departments.
Knowledge of mailroom procedures
Interpersonal/human relations skills
Ability to work in seasonal weather conditions
Ability to work or stand during the majority of the working hours
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds without assistance. Ability to push or pull a minimum of 40 pounds.
Sorts mail; identifies the addressee and places mail in proper mail sorting receptacle; looks up and addresses undeliverable mail.
Performs mail delivery duties which includes going to each department that receives USPS mail or interoffice mail; picks up outgoing mail.
Ties and bundles mail; places mail in mail bags for relay to various campus buildings and University departments; prepares mail for relay between campuses.
May coordinate the activities of a group of mail carriers, such as scheduling and training of replacement carriers; submission of time and attendance; approval of overtime; distribution of heavy work volume.
Assists as replacement mail carrier on an as needed basis; performs other duties as assigned.
May serve as a member of the emergency essential personnel staff and report to work during a closing to assist in carrying out the services of the University; performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
