Detailed Job Description
The Student Success Coordinator will be primarily responsible for supporting undergraduates' academic success and student engagement through the development, implementation, and assessment of outreach programming, including academic skills workshops, one on one academic coaching, coordinating support efforts for students; developing print and web-based materials; as well as data searches, data retrieval, analyses and reporting to facilitate and support university planning, policy development, and operations.
Additional Department Summary:
This position will provide assessment assistance with strategic planning and implementation of policy development that serve as the underpinning of program performance in the Center for Academic Success This position will implement the appropriate support required to assure that information needed to facilitate ongoing program assessment in a timely, efficient and accurate manner is made available to key individuals within units; requiring data searches, data retrieval and analyses from the repository of data available in the University of Alabama Student Information Systems and related campus-wide data depositories. Additionally, this position will be responsible for support necessary to assist departmental individuals in using report writing tools and other related PC and mainframe software.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Proficiency in data analysis and use of computer statistical software such as SPSS/SAS. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet applications, personal computing networks, internet software and Access including proficiency and knowledge of, database structures, tables, fields, queries, and scripts. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with a diverse group of people. Must be detail oriented and able to assess needs, plan, and implement new programs. Must be computer literate with the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, disseminate and report data regarding program outcomes and services to internal and external constituents. Must be able to collaborate with other units within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to plan and implement programs to promote student success and enhance student retention. Must be able and willing to work and interact with undergraduate students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators. Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism and represent the University and program with tact and diplomacy at all times. Experience with advising, personal and academic coaching, teaching, advocacy, financial aid, personal and career development, case management/outreach, tutoring and/or mentoring.
Master's degree preferred. Sensitivity to issues surround access, equity and diversity in higher education. Knowledge of higher education student recruitment, orientation, access, and success and a tolerance for ambiguity. 58 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 37835.16 Midpoint - $ 54870.36
