Job Responsibilities

Works collaboratively with faculty, staff and administrators to insure the delivery of user-friendly, understandable data analyses and interpretation designed to promote retention and student success

Works cooperatively with staff, faculty, administrators, and the Office of Evidence and Inquiry to advance Tri-C’s continuous improvement initiatives

Provides administrative leadership for projects focusing on institutional effectiveness

Works with college constituents to plan, collect, and analyze data for specific initiatives college-wide and on the campuses

In collaboration with the Office of Faculty Development, leads staff development seminars and workshops to enhance faculty expertise in the use of student success data

Works across the college to determine information needs and how to best access information; this may include identifying problems and offering solutions to resolve problems or looking for alternative ways to respond to questions

Interprets and develops information to support the transformation of data into information

Creates visualization and presentation materials, including analyses of trends, comparisons, and mapping that can be used to catalyze and support data-driven conversations and strategies to improve outcomes

Organizes and maintains an institutional research infrastructure and capacity; serves as a resource for data-related projects

Interprets and visually communicates the results of quantitative data analyses for grant applications, written reports and oral presentations

Presents, communicates, and shares interpretation of institutional information

Advises Access, Learning, and Success Vice Presidents on trends, analysis, and key levers that will enhance the College’s capacity to meet its strategic goals

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


Master’s degree in higher education, educational research, social sciences, statistics, or a related field and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a research, analytics, reporting, or related position

Demonstrated experience successfully interpreting and presenting data

Demonstrated experience collaboratively leading across boundaries to accomplish key initiatives or advance a strategic goal

Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others

Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department

Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations


Possess comprehensive knowledge of data interpretation theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Possess strong commitment to providing excellent customer service

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing work environment requiring flexibility and teamwork

Demonstrated ability to manage relationships, create opportunities and solve problems

Possess strong organizational, time-management skills, and is results-oriented

Conversant on the issues and latest trends in higher education as they relate to big data, student success and institutional effectiveness

Ability to communicate complex results clearly to a variety of audiences – especially non-specialists – in written and graphical formats, as well as through presentations

Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications


Doctoral Degree in a related field

Demonstrated experience in institutional or corporate research in higher education, industry or a government or state agency

Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others

Demonstrated experience developing college wide ownership of student success data and analysis

Demonstrated familiarity working with third party reporting tools, e.g., Argos, Cognos, Tableau

Demonstrated experience in an AQIP institution

Work Schedule

Standard college hours of operation, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.
