This position performs specialized duties in support of the college’s student retention efforts.
• Manages a caseload of at-risk students; develops individual achievement plans; monitors student academic progress; provides intervention strategies; refers students to campus and community resources.
• Organizes New Student Orientation (NSO): Sets NSO schedule, determines NSO staffing, and conducts NSO activities.
• Coordinates Service Learning activities related to program promotion; student registration, placement, and tracking; and faculty support as requested.
• Monitors retention software to track, document, and report student academic progress.
• Supervises student workers.
• Builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with campus and community stakeholders.
• Performs related duties.

The Director of Retention assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
Guidelines include the employee handbook, software and site end user agreements, campus computer use guidelines, and other college and department policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
• The work consists of related specialized duties. The unique needs of each student contribute to the complexity of the position.
• The purpose of this position is to perform specialized duties in support of student retention programs. Success in this position contributes to student success, retention and degree completion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
• The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
• The work is typically performed in an office.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position supervises assigned student workers.
