Department:

Human Resources

The Human Resource Generalist I is responsible for delivering a range of human resources services in support of various University departments and operations. This position provides human resources support to various locations, located throughout Florida and in other states.

Basic Function:

• Implements human resources services by providing talent acquisition and recruitment processing, compensation and health benefits information and processing, records management, and EEO compliance.
• Collects and analyzes information and recommends appropriate courses of action.
• Facilitates healthy employee relations through coaching and counseling supervisors and employees, and fostering both development planning and a progressive discipline process.
• Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by maintaining of new and anticipated legislation, and enforcing adherence to those requirements, advising management on necessary actions.
• Analyzes internal work processes and makes recommendations for improvement
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

• Must be an ethical person with the ability and desire to follow University Core Values.
• Working knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of the University.
• Must have the ability to juggle multiple priorities with a strong ability to meet deadlines, sometimes on short notice.
• High degree of discretion and excellent judgment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• At least five year’s progressive experience with increasing responsibility in human resources

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in human resources or closely related field.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
• At least five year’s progressive experience with increasing responsibility in human resources

Preferred Qualifications:

PHR/SPHR certification preferred
