Detailed Job Description

Under limited supervision, manage and drive performance of a large and diverse work group responsible for the grounds for each college campus.

Campus Location

This position will be located at West Campus or District OfficeDepartment: Grounds MaintenanceDegree Requirement: Bachelor's degree

Essential Job Functions

1. Responsible for the development of day to day performance of grounds maintenance for all college locations.
2. Identify new concepts that improve the appearance of each college location.
3. Responsible for the development and long term implementation of grounds that directly support a successful sustainability plan.
4. Make formal presentations to Senior Leadership.
5. Serve as a liaison for college and local city and county planning and engineering agencies with respect to the colleges short and long range planning programs.
6. Management of water bodies such as campus lakes and retention ponds are included as part of these duties.
7. Other duties as assigned.


1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution [required] in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Maintenance Operations, Horticulture Management, or related field.
2. Experience with grounds maintenance.
3. Comfortable learning new software and tools.
4. Ability to effectively communicate with and train teams across different campuses.
5. Experience with Florida Friendly or native landscaping preferred.
6. Experience with sustainable lake management preferred.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

1. Knowledge of horticulture in the state of Florida.
2. Ability to schedule and manage the activities of a large work group.
3. Skill in use of various computer software, specifically Microsoft Office applications.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships.
5. Ability to analyze and interpret technical and environmental data, and prepare reports.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work in a diverse community and meet the needs of a diverse work force.


$57,181 - $71,039 per year
