This position will provide information technology support and expertise to research activities on the Aeolus high-performance computing (HPC) cluster within the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. The primary function of this position is to provide expert level consultation regarding specialized information technology research and development to support use of the HPC cluster and, thus, support the growth of the cluster and it’s user base. Additionally, this position will assist with the daily operation and maintenance of the HPC cluster, including, but not limited to installing and maintaining applications, training new users, and overseeing data back-ups. This position may serve as the back-up systems administrator as needed.
Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of Message Passing Interface (MPI) and OpenMP
Ability to program in high-level, scripting language such as bash, csh, Perl or Python
Experience troubleshooting software code using tools such as valgrind, strace or gdb
Experience with LDAP
Experience with NFS and at least one parallel distributed file-system such as GPFS, Panasas or Luster
Experience with web technology such as Drupal, PHP, etc.
Familiarity with integration of GPU boards and other emerging many-core architectures into traditional clusters.
Experience working in a higher education setting preferably at WSU
