This position is responsible for oversight of prospective and retrospective audits of inpatient and outpatient medical records of the Washington State University Teaching Hospital (VTH), evaluating patient charges for compliance with hospital policies and billing of all patient accounts. Responsibilities also include performing duties related to accounting and auditing of VTH teaching, research and administrative adjustments and providing training for all VTH staff. Supervise Medical Records Auditing unit staff.
A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
DVM degree; Licensed Veterinary Technician; or ability to meet the required criteria (WAC 246-935-060) to be eligible to sit for the Washington State Veterinary Technician exam and ability to pass the exam within 6 months of hire.
Familiarity with and experience in veterinary medical practices.
Medical records auditing/hospital billing experience.
Experience working in veterinary or human medical hospital in technical or back-office role.
Database management system experience (i.e. Microsoft Access).
Proficiency in use of practice management software.
