Under the direction of the Chief Instructor, conducts ground and flight instruction with professional pilot students in accordance with FAA regulations, department policies and standard operating practices. Prepares and recommends students for FAA practical and knowledge tests. Maintains training records in accordance with department policies and FAA regulations.
Graduated with a standard high school diploma or the equivalent and current FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane. Must have a current and valid Certified Flight Instructor certificate, Instrument Airplane (CFII), current flight review, current instrument privileges, current 2nd class FAA medical certificate, and other ratings as applicable to the responsibilities assigned.
Knowledge of standard pilot training practices.
Knowledge of material contained in required FAA aeronautical publications.
Effective teaching skills.
Personal management & organizational skills.
Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and decision making skills.
Ability to pass initial and recurrent proficiency checks related to assigned responsibilities.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to use standard word processing and general computer applications.
Ability to be physically fit and work within the operating limitations of all aircraft in the UVU fleet including access to controls and emergency equipment.
