Quinnipiac University seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as Associate Dean of Engineering for the School of Business and Engineering.
In the fall of 2012 Quinnipiac University launched new degree programs in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, civil engineering, and software engineering. The Associate Dean for engineering will play a key role in helping to guide these programs from a Department of Engineering to a School of Engineering. The Associate Dean will take a leadership role in the development of new engineering classrooms and laboratories, the continued development of the curriculum, the hiring of faculty and staff, and the management of initial ABET Accreditation. Successful candidates will be collaborative academic leaders with the talent to leverage the University’s many assets to continue to build a unique, high-quality engineering program that will play a critical role in an institution with high aspirations for quality and impact. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Business and Engineering, specific job responsibilities include continuing to develop an innovative curriculum, hiring faculty, helping to design laboratory, classroom, and student spaces, directing the operations of engineering programs, supporting student achievement, preparing for accreditation, and providing strong overall leadership for the Engineering Department. The candidate will work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies to develop new partnerships, programs and professional relationships, especially within the engineering, business, mathematics, and science communities.
The successful candidate will possess: an earned doctorate in mechanical, industrial, civil, or software engineering; administrative experience at the department chair, assistant, or associate dean level; demonstrated commitment to students and academic achievement; effective communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and a collaborative and effective leadership style.
