Develop MFA Stage Management Program. Position typically directs one mainstage production per semester. Possible directing opportunities at SummerTide, the department’s professional summer theatre in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Serve as faculty mentor for MFA Directors and undergraduate Stage Managers. Participation in recruitment, advising, committee work and service to the university will also be required. The candidate will be expected to vigorously pursue external creative/research activities at the national and/or international level appropriate to the discipline.

The Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Directing, and undergraduate courses in Stage Management and Introduction to Theatre. Administer MFA Directing Program. Qualifications: MFA in Directing. Professional directing experience. Record of successful teaching at the college and/or university level preferred. Experience and/or training in Stage Management preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to multiple pedagogical and directorial approaches, and a record of work of an inclusive, multi-cultural perspective.
