Director, Sawyer Library
The Director provides leadership and oversight for all library services, collection, and resources available to the students, faculty, and staff; supervises a staff of 17.5; manages a facility of 60,000 square feet with seating for 538; manages a non-personnel budget of $1,600,000, library information technology, an integrated library system, the library web page, information services, and its information literacy education programs.
Provide strategic vision, leadership and planning for the library.
Develop and evaluate library policies and procedures in collaboration with the Assistant Directors and Circulation Manager.
Develop and manage the budget, including allocation of resources among materials, services, and technologies, and the management of endowed funds and gifts.
Provide direction for the integration of emerging technologies into library operations.
Oversee the further development and implementation of literacy education and academic technology education programs.
Oversee further development and maintenance of the Library web site, including the development of a robust gateway to the Library’s licensed databases.
Oversee the effective and efficient utilization of the library’s resources and facilities, including maintaining inventories of furniture and equipment, support for accreditation efforts, and support for institutional and governmental assessment.
Oversee the continued development of the Library’s collections to support the information, curriculum, teaching and research needs of students and family.
Ensure the physical and virtual accessibility of these resources.
Collaborate with the Librarian of the Law School in the development and maintenance of cooperative policies and programs and the jointly managed automated integrated library system.
Collaborate with the Madrid and NESAD libraries in the provision of library services, including technical services support and direct access to online information resources.
Requirements: An ALA-accredited graduate degree in library and information science. A second master’s degree or doctorate in a disciplinary area other than library science. Progressively responsible experience in successful library administration. Demonstrated previous experience with strategic planning, budgeting, facilities management, accreditation, and outcomes assessment. Knowledge of emerging trends and issues in college and university libraries and related instructional and information technologies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
