The Department of Human Nutrition and Hospitality Management is one of five departments in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama. The undergraduate Food and Nutrition major has three tracks: coordinated program in dietetics, didactic program in dietetics, and nutrition science. The department also offers a Master of Science in Human Nutrition.
•Teach courses at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral level in support of the Food and Nutrition baccalaureate program, Master of Science in Human Nutrition program, and Nutrition concentration in the Ph.D. in Health Education/Promotion program.
•Establish an active, focused research program in the area of community nutrition.
•Seek extramural research funding.
•Assist in program development.
•Advise and mentor students.
•Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
Applicants should have a strong background in community nutrition with the ability to establish and sustain a research agenda in the area of community nutrition.
•PhD or DrPH, required
•Registered Dietitian, required
•Must have at least 18 hours of graduate level nutrition courses, preferably in the area of community nutrition
•Evidence of the ability to teach at the collegiate level
•Ability to teach community nutrition, nutrition education, and/or nutrition epidemiology
•Evidence of the potential to establish a related research program
